Sunday was May Day, I know it means different things in different parts of the world but for the northwest United States, it is the day for all the basement dwellers to come out to play. The police had to break up the party on the streets of Seattle. I loved this morning on the Today Show the quick clip of someone who shouts out for the camera’s “Capitalism is ruining this country”. I am sure this is a current college student who is freeloading off mom and dad who are working to send this “road scholar” to the local university. I laughed at this person as I see her makeup smeared from the tear gas, made by a capitalist company, her clothes, backpack and probably smartphone, also made by the same kind of companies. Of course, the professors at her school will not tell her that the only reason she is able to go to that school is that the system she thinks is ruining the world also built all these establishments. It is very convenient to be able to protest the very thing that you are benefiting from but hey, let’s not let the truth cloud our judgment. Instead, let’s let her get that degree in underwater basket weaving and then go out into the world and try to get a job, for which she can protest for fifteen dollars an hour wages for because fast food burger flipper is all she will be able to get. Just remember when you are older and lamenting your life choices sweetheart, it isn’t the system keeping you down!
May day fun and games!
