When I was in my twenties I decided to buy an electric razor and for the last twenty-five years I have used one to shave. It really was convenient I could quickly shave and move on. In the last few years I am not sure what has changed, either my whiskers have become tree trunk thick or electric razors have become useless! What used to take a few minutes has become a ritual of going over and over the same patch with no change. It reminds me of the weeds in my yard, I have sprayed them with ground clear and yet they still mock me. I have thought it was maybe my razor, so I bought a new one. That one did the same so I bought a different one. So it should be noted that I did not buy the two hundred-dollar super shaver, but I also didn’t buy the kiddy razor either. I tried rotary, I tried screen the only thing I didn’t try was sandpaper. I guess I am going to have to go back to the classic disposable razor, at least classic to me, but now the decision is how many blades? This was probably a lot easier when the only option was a straight razor. Why has everything had to get more complicated?
Monthly Archives: July 2014
Happy 4th of July!
4th of July, more barbeques will fire up today than any other day of the year! Potato salad and watermelon will be consumed by many and nothing says American like all the stupid people who will catch themselves and others on fire by doing stupid things with fireworks. Our area was destroyed by a fire last year but I am sure tonight I will hear them going in the distance. Nobody is going to say you can’t, unless it is illegal in your area people are going to play with them. Every year the consumer protection agency creates a commercial showing kids cloths burning on a dummy but it doesn’t stop all the fun. Nothing says freedom like the freedom to burn yourself. I hear that potato salad on the burn will help cool it.
Give your IT department a break!
I don’t think most people understand what happens to the IT department when some large event happens in the world. Every time you want to stream an event to your computer you and your co-workers suck up all the resources available for actual work. The usual plan is to have less than fifty percent of the network being used instead of all of it for your fun. Nobody really gets that all that fast connection speed you enjoy is costing your company a ton of money and your entertainment is costing them a ton of money. As the network team watches all of the bandwidth go away and email and others trying to do real work end up with delays. So enjoy the soccer game today, but try to watch it on a TV instead, the IT department will thank you!
