Don’t be some what weird!

101-1013tm-charSince I missed my follow-up yesterday I thought I would pick up where I left off. When you are a little weird it is pretty normal. Everybody is a little weird. But like a scale it can get past the normal weird and off into creepy. Creepy like white van with no windows creepy, old drunk clown creepy, circus performer creepy. For a short while I lived in a place I affectionately called “motel hell”. I called it that because it was single room apartments with a bean-shaped pool in the middle much like a motel. You rarely saw anyone coming or going and no one sat outside. Every day when I came home a guy on the end unit would be sitting on the floor of his apartment with the door open. As I came up the stairs he would stare at me from the corner all the way to my door never taking his eyes off me. That was creepy, did I mention he was in shorts and no shirt, extra creepy! Then as if to magically come full circle if you get really weird like paint a picture by throwing broken glass on a canvas and then walking all over it making patterns in your blood, you are suddenly cool again. So I guess the idea is to either be a little weird or a lot, because in between is creepy.

If you are going weird, go big!

Credit VisitOSLO-HeidiI get that some of the things I don’t like can still be considered art. I am not a fan of most modern art, chopping up a cow and putting out to rot or making a red square and calling it “red square” to me is not art. Other things thou are creative and while I may not understand or like it I can see why some would consider it art. Then there are things that are just weird. Not saying they are not art or that the person who created it isn’t talented I just think they are missing something in the delivery. In Norway there is a sculpture name “Man Throwing Babies”, say what? Is this a statement piece or is it suppose to be funny? I have no idea what this guy was thinking, why not cats? At least with cats I would understand maybe even sheep. I am not sure but I am hoping this statue is huge I would be so disappointed if I went to Norway to find out this thing is real size. If you are going to go weird, you at least have to go big!

Oh the Humanity!

fa6b14a82a3f5fNothing makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about humanity more than seeing the evening news. Last night they showed a picture of a man arrested for shooting someone on the south side of our town. The gentleman looked like he was in his sixties with a Mohawk hair cut and a Duck Dynasty beard. My favorite feature was the left glaucoma ghost eye. I’m sure he has his medical marijuana card for that. I know I shouldn’t judge a book by the cover but when the cover gives you nightmares I pretty much know I don’t want to read it. He wasn’t the only special story, a bar was shot up, and another man was stab after he sprayed someone else with ketchup. Other stories included fire, car wrecks and flooding. It is a wonder I can sleep after the news is over. I don’t think of myself as a depressed personality but it is hard to come away with any kind of hope for our future. Maybe that is why they end it with sports. I guess if I want to feel good about my fellow man I need stop watching the local news, maybe I should just watch reruns of america’s funniest home videos instead.

Getting what’s coming!

I am always blown away at the smarts of some people. This morning I saw a video of a guy trying to rob a convenience store by talking tough and telling the cashier to give him money. What he didn’t know was the owner was an ex-marine who happen to be watching on the store security camera in the back. The owner walked up to this gentleman and told him to leave the store even holding the door so he could make a quick exit.  This genius started for the door but then sucker punched the owner on the way out. The owner barely flinched but then returns the blow knocking the would be crook to the ground. I’m sure this guy was very surprised to run it to someone who stood up to him. He was probably used to people backing down. The problem for tough guys is eventually you run into someone tougher. The owner once he has put this guy in his place then asks him if he is alright and then offers him a hand to get back up on his feet. You can tell by the video that the crook has no idea how to react. He stumbles to his feet and walks away. The interview with the owner showed a humble guy who was just doing what he needed to do and nothing more. Let hope that this crook learned a valuable lesson, but I am not holding out hope. Some of us have to make the same mistakes more than once and some just never learn.
